Hey Church family! 
A couple of weeks back, I got to dive into the joy of exploring biblical gentleness in one of my sermons. Someone was so excited about an illustration I used that they asked for a transcript! So here it is for all of you to enjoy too!
In the heart of Oklahoma like here in Enid, where the vast fields stretch out like a patchwork quilt under the open sky, there resides a figure that embodies the very essence of resilience, power, and strength—the farmer. Their life is a testament to unwavering dedication and the ability to endure countless challenges.
Each day, as the first rays of dawn paint the horizon, the farmer rises from their slumber. With weathered hands and a determined spirit, they embark on a journey into the unpredictable world of agriculture. Nature’s whims often dictate their course, with merciless storms, scorching sun, and unrelenting droughts as their adversaries. Yet, the farmer stands unfazed, ready to face whatever trials lie ahead.
Throughout the seasons, their hands become an extension of the earth itself, sowing seeds, tending to crops, and harvesting the fruit of their labor. They toil tirelessly, bearing the weight of the land’s demands on their shoulders. The farmer’s strength is not merely physical but also mental and emotional, as they must navigate the unpredictable terrain of financial uncertainties and the constant battle against pests and disease.
Despite the harsh realities they face, the farmer’s spirit remains unbroken. They possess an innate ability to find hope amidst adversity and a profound connection to the land they nurture. It is in the farmer’s eyes that you see a spark of determination that refuses to be extinguished. They are the silent heroes of the agricultural world, resilient in the face of hardship.
The farmer’s strength is not only evident in their ability to overcome nature’s challenges but also in their deep-rooted commitment to feeding the world and their family. With unwavering resolve, they ensure that our plates are filled and our bellies satisfied. Their sacrifices often go unnoticed, but their impact is felt by all.
In the quiet of the countryside, the farmer stands as a symbol of strength, embodying the timeless values of hard work, perseverance, and a profound connection to the land. Their story is one of unwavering dedication and the ability to weather life’s storms, serving as a powerful reminder of the human spirit and strength.
But gentleness is that same powerful farmer who goes to Church, and who is moved to tears when hearing his daughter sing a hymn to our Lord, gentleness is about having strength under control, along with humility and grace when you are aware of His spirit. Having an open heart that melts when in the presence of an innocent baby or child. This is gentleness.
